Smart Boy!

Winn is settling in really well too. He still bounces like a Tigger when he gets really excited, but even then will sit when told. He loves running at the football field after work, then comes in and crashes on the chair, just the way a Pointer should. I think he's really smart, and honestly believe he's figured out our morning walk schedule already, even though this was only his 3rd morning with us.

He loves riding in the car, but isn't good. He has to be restrained. He's much better on the leash already too. Winn absolutely loves sleeping in bed, and I think I've convinced him to sleep with his head outside the covers. Otherwise, I wake up with him panting under the covers, but he doesn't come out. OK, not so smart there, but he did turn around and keep his head out last night. We both sleep much better that way.

Winn is a sweet and funny boy. He came out of the shelter a bundle of nervous energy, and starved for attention. He was so excited when I got him home yesterday, he literally couldn't stand still or get close enough. He wanted to jump, and bounces on his hind legs like a Tigger, when he's really excited, but he knows "down", "sit" and "no". He finally settled down and, by evening, cuddled on the couch the way a Pointer should. He slept in bed, under the covers, like a baby all night. What a difference a day makes! This morning Winn is nice and calm, and slept on the dog bed while I was getting ready for work.

I stopped at the dog park on the way home with him yesterday. He was very friendly to everyone, and tolerated a couple of dogs who really wanted to play with him when he was more interested in running. Considering he didn't know me, or his name, he did an amazing job of coming when called, and checking in.

He's not too interested in my dogs, and hasn't paid any attention to the cat. Winn loved my 8 year old neighbor boy who came over to meet him, he literally threw himself into Michael's lap.

He did lift his leg on the Christmas tree as I was taking it down. It is a tree after all, so we gave him the benefit of the doubt. He has not had any other accidents in the house, and knows what it means when you ask if he wants to go out.

I'll send another update in a couple of days. Winn is so eager to please, it's obvious that with a little love and attention, he's going to be a great dog.
